The Hintertux Opening Was Super, Man!

Being at the Hotzone.tv Hintertux Opening felt like being unarmed in a water balloon fight with God himself. This might sound like a pretty entertaining time, but once you're there you sure wished you possessed outerwear, which I did not. The weather first seemed gentle when we arrived, until suddenly rain poured down and slushed up the glacier into one big tasty lemon sorbet to shred on. Most of the photos you're about to see here were shot when the weather gods went for a ciggie break and stopped the rain fights for a moment.  But in all honesty, despite the weather the Hintertux Opening was super, man!

Let's kick things off with a little video with the good peoples at Deeluxe featuring sorbet-surfing by Dominik Brunner, Elias Elhardt, Simon Pircher, Klaus Lotto, Elena Koenz, Michi Schatz & Samy Kautner.

It looked pretty epic when we got there, until the gods decided to punish us. Photo by Jean PaulThe shapers putting the finishing touches on the fresh park. Little did they know that all their labors would be washed away in a grand deluge and they would be forced to try to keep the park together instead of sending it with everyone else. If you like fun you gotta love Henry Jackson. Later that day he was playing Blind Man’s Bluff in the fog.

Bonus didn't give a fog. He kept riding!

The go-shred BBQ was the place to be to dry your clothes over the fire and shove food down your gullet.

Thanks for the wet socks and see you at next year's Hotzone.tv Hintertux Opening! But before we go, the dog up top in the cover image wanted us to play this song for you. Sorry...

Thanks to all the people that provided photos and big ups to the guys at the
theshapersblog.com for trying to keep the park from washing off the side of the mountain.
