Little Labels: Colour Wear

Sebastian Garhammer is the marketing director of this new hot label called Colour Wear. It is a Swedish independent outerwear company focusing on simplicity, colors and the snow/skate culture. We caught up with Sebbe in Stockholm and he showed us this year's new range. This stuff is tight (not literally though!).
Sebbe the man behind CLWRHey Sebastian, last time I saw you we were in a bar in Alaska after some amazing pow turns and a few too many beers, how's life?
Hey mate, haha, yeah good times in AK. I remember that night (kind of), almost missed my flight because of that.  I've been up to quite a lot since then, last year me and a couple of friends started Spatziba.com together and just recently I started to work with some other friends of mine that started this clothing brand called Colour Wear. I'm in charge of the marketing but I also have a big influence on the creative and art direction aspects of the brand.

Rad, tell me more!
We are a Swedish independent lifestyle brand that does both outerwear and street wear clothing, with our roots in snow/skate culture. CLWR is built on the foundation of the Scandinavian heritage, focusing on simplicity, colours and the idea that less is more. We make garments designed to handle the harshest conditions on the mountain as well as keeping up with the latest trends on the streets. On top of that, we do our best to keep the prices down as much as possible.
Snowboard outerwear is a tough market to crack, what separates Colour from the rest?
For one, we look better than most, hahaha. Nah, what really separates us is that we keep a clean Scandinavian design on the garments with a lot of influences from streetwear. I think a big part of the idea behind the brand comes from our Scandinavian/Swedish heritage. Good functional design for everyone. H&M, Ikea, Urbanears and Cheap Monday/Weekday are brands with ideas that have been a big influence on us. I mean really, we want more people to go shred the mountain, right!? You shouldn't have to pay a fortune to do that. Well, here we are, good functional rad looking clothes that you actually can afford. For me it's also very important that we keep it real to our roots and to support the scene where we come from and that we love and of course this will reflect what we stand for as a brand very much as well.

What are your favorite pieces in the this year's line?

The NK Jacket
The Niklas Matsson Signature Anorak

On the women's side:

The WR Pant

Do you guys have team riders?
Yeah, we are currently adding some new faces to our family and we will launch new names during this fall/winter. The family will consist of friends of ours that are talented and that we respect in the skate, snow, art and music cultures. Here are some of the snowboarders that have joined the CLWR family: Risto Roukula, Leo Crawford (look out for his banging part in the Helgason's new movie 'Sexual Snowboarding'), Niklas Matsson (the next big thing out of Scandinavia), Gustav Een and Kareem El Rafie amongst others.

We are actually launching a summer/streetwear collection this spring that we are really happy with. Since most of our influences come from streetwear the step to make a street wear spring/summer collection wasn't too big. We are also working with some new accessories and collabs as we speak.

How important are trends these days in outerwear?

I think trends are really important, but you need to find your own style and something that separates you from the other brands. In our case it's all about simplicity and clean design with lots of different colors to chose from. And the fact that it's affordable too.

We all know Swedes are pretty trendy with 87% of all Swedish males owning at least one collared salmon pink shirt, where do you get your inspiration from?
Haha, I don't know about those pink shirts, I guess I'm in the lucky 13% that don't rock those. But yeah, Swedes are a bit more aware about trends then the average Euro. And since most of us live in the city in the summer and in the mountain in the winter, the streets of Stockholm, Copenhagen and Gothenburg have influenced us.  To break it down, our influences come from who we are and the people and friends that surround us. In our case these are people from skate, snow, music, fashion and art culture.

Kareem the Dream is on CLWR!
Will it help guys pick up hot Swedish chicks?
Oh yeah, for sure. Our clothes come with a Swedish hot chick/dude pick-up guarantee, haha!

Is there a built-in Snus pocket or maybe something new like an intravenous line that you can hook up straight into your veins or gums?
Actually no, but that's a great idea! Maybe we should hire you for our creative team!?
We salute the General Snus! Pic Rikard Lilja
Where do you expect Colour to be in five years time?
I see us being an globally established brand with a focus on Europe, US and Asia. I expect us to be in all the best core stores and have a respected trademark known for its innovative thinking and functional clothing and clean designs.

Where can we buy or see Colour outerwear in Europe?
Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Austria, UK this year and hopefully a bunch more until next year. Have a look on our site for dealers close to your region here: www.clwr.com

What is going to be CLWR plan for winter and will you be getting deep somewhere?
We just finished off a massive weekend in Stockholm with the FL Rail Jam and some film release parties and we could't have asked for a better start for the season, Stockholm was on fire, all in the name of snowboarding. I'll be in Åre shredding a bit in the pre-season and we are planning some shoots in the Alps with the team and I will be going on some field trips as well to wherever the snow lands, really looking forward for some snow right now…
