The *Snowkid project: My name is Mattias Rönnholm and I'm a quarter of Snowkid Productions.
My friends and I have wanted to keep the Swedish snowboard scene alive, progressive and and true to itself, so we started filming in the fall of 2006. We gathered interesting and promising riders, two filmers, a video editor, some sponsors and our own time to make things happen.
Months later the winter has passed, footage has been pleasing, a teaser is out and the video is soon to be released. Since we´re only doing this for the love of snowboarding money isn't a goal. Still, we aim to show our video and what Sweden has to offer to as many as possible.
The plan is to distribute the video with a Swedish snowboard magazine, give away DVDs to snowboard shops all over the country, and offer free downloading online further into the season.
The idea behind the film was to make it funny and something everyone would want to watch. Since we all are snowboarders and have been around a while we believe to have the ideas to keep our videos interesting and make people want to snowboard. What makes us different from other videos? We're inspired by old-school filming when hi tech wasn't how it is today and kids only had vhs tapes to watch, rewind and watch again.
This is a tribute to all the tapes that made us love snowboarding. That is why the teaser and parts of the video are edited with vhs recorders and text machines to give it an old-school look, mixed with some of the best Swedish riders.
Even though this is our first year out with a film we believe in stoking people out, getting a bigger budget and turning Snowkid Productions into the largest snowboarding video production company ever seen in Sweden.
