Roxy Glacier Park open in Kitzsteinhorn

Kitzsteinhorn: Roxy Glacier Park open!
The winter has begun - Top-notch events - New website is online

The winter is back! Since Mid of October, the Roxy Glacier Park at Kitzsteinhorn is open again. At a snowy 2,900 metres sea-level, loads of obstacles for all skills are ready at Kaprun's glacier plateau. And with the opening of the park, also the first events will take place.

At the Roxy Glacier Park - the first Roxy Park worldwide -, the Kitzsteinhorn shaper crew together with Mellow Constructions erected a Pro Line with a double kicker combo with 14- and 8-metre tables each. The Easy Line with four five-metre kickers is already prepared since the beginning of October. For all jibbers five rails and boxes are ready by now. The whole park will be re-shaped regularly. Gradually, the park will be extended within the next few days until up to 23 obstacles with 11 jumps and 12 rails and boxes for all skills will be ready at the 250-metre long terrain.

At the end of November, also the DC Central Park at Sonnenkarbahn chair lift and the Easy Park will open. Then, snowboarders and freeskiers will have the opportunity to show their skills at a 30,000 m2 terrain.

"We are proud to announce the opening of the first Roxy Park in the world on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier", Roxy Winter Marketing Manager Stine Brun Kjeldaas said. "We want to give winter enthusiasts the freedom to express themselves in a playground designed for all levels of riding consisting of rails, boxes and jumps. Kitzsteinhorn being based in the middle of Europe and already hosting the worlds biggest all-girls snowboard event 'The Roxy Chicken Jam' made this location a natural choice for us!"

With the opening of the Roxy Park, also the first event took place: >From October 25 to 28 2007, Kitzsteinhorn hosted the TTR Boot Camp. At this training camp of the Ticket to Ride (TTR) World Snowboard Tour, TTR CEO Drew Stevenson personally instructed the invited rookie riders.

At the "White Start" on November 17 and 18, 2007, with "be:open" then a first-class snow clubbing event will take place at the Kitzsteinhorn Snow Atrium at Alpincenter. From 3:30 to 6 pm, there will be an outdoor party with DJ Gordon Edge and his live trumpet show and Tara McDonald as live vocalist.

At the Roxy Glacier Park, the first highlight of the season will be the Roxy Chicken Jam from December 14 to 16 2007: at this 6-star event of the Ticket To Ride Women's Snowboard Tour, the world's best snowboard girls will show their tricks and manoeuvres at Kitzsteinhorn.

The new website www.snowpark.kitzsteinhorn.at supplies riders with all news about the current state of the park. In addition, there are interactive maps of the parks with facts and pictures of the obstacles, as well as news and pictures delivered directly by the shapers. Park videos and information on events, weather forecast and ticket prices complete the website.

By the way: if you prefer to build your kicker at the backcountry or to surf the powder you will also find fine places at Kitzsteinhorn, especially at Magnetkoepfl and Langwied. These runs with many chutes, powder lines, cliffs and natural pipes are nothing but a paradise for all freestyle-oriented freeriders.
