TTR update on Air & Style

TTR press release

With two weeks to go before the major Northern Hemisphere kick off and two major events called 'Air & Style', the chances for a small amount of confusion exists even here in the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour Operational Offices. High anticipation for both the Swatch TTR SIX(6) STAR Nokia Air & Style Munich 2007, on the 1st of December 2007 and the Swatch TTR FIVE(5) STAR Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck-Tirol 08, on the 2nd of February, allowed us to get ahead of ourselves and some errors were made in the latest Swatch TTR Newsletter.

The Swatch TTR SIX(6) STAR Nokia Air & Style in Munich 2007 will feature musical acts of 30 Seconds to Mars, The Hives, and Sean Paul, and not Queens of the Stone Age as communicated. On top of this outstanding musical line up, the Nokia Air&Style is shaping up to yet again re-define professional freestyle snowboarding contests. The riders list constitutes a who's who of the world's best in the main event and the best rookie field yet to compete in the contest. Main field riders are:

Travis Rice(USA), Risto Mattila(FIN), David Benedek(GER), Hampus Mosesson(SWE), Andreas Wiig(NOR), Nicolas Müller(SUI), Kevin Pearce(USA), Mathieu Crepel(FRA), Gigi Rüff(AUT), Torstein Horgmo(NOR), Chas Guldemond(USA), Eero Ettala(FIN), Danny Davis(USA), Mikkel Bang(NOR), Heikki Sorsa(FIN) and Andy Finch(USA) replacing the injured Antti Autti(FIN).

The inaugural edition of the Swatch TTR FIVE(5) STAR Billabong Air & Style Quarter Pipe Innsbruck-Tirol 08 will, in fact, feature the musical act of Queens of the Stone Age with a second act still to be announced. Air & Style Quarterpipe will return to its sacred home, the Bergisel Stadium, located on the edge of Innsbruck city.

The question on everybody's lips is if Terje Haakonsen(NOR), fresh off of his 9.8m World Quarterpipe Record at his own Oakley Arctic Challenge in Oslo last March, will break the 10m barrier for the first time in Tirol come February2, 2008. The 50,000 EURO prize purse (not $50,000 USD as communicated) will be an major incentive, as will the 12,000 crowd set to rock the event.
