Results from the Snow Park Tour 08

Woerle and Geyer win the Fellhorn stage. Last tour stop and finals coming up!

At the penultimate stage of the Snowpark Tour 2008 at the O'Neill Fellhorn Park, last year's local champ Patrick Woerle from Pflach (AUT) managed to defend his title at the snowboarders'; Florian Geyer from Pfronten (GER) won the freeskiers' comp. This Friday (March 14) will see the last opportunity to qualify for the upcoming Finale Grande of the Snowpark Tour on March 15 and 16 at Kitzsteinhorn, Zell am See-Kaprun, Austria.

With its demanding rails, the O'Neill Fellhorn Park was a good place for the jibbers to show off. Apart from a kicker and a corner, the set-up comprised a stair feature with triple kinked box and down rail as well as a double kinked rail, a rainbow box, a flat box, an up & down box and a wallride.

At the snowboarder's jam session, 270 on/off, cab 720 and frontside 720 were the winner's key tricks. 22-year-old Patrick Woerle who had come third, second and first at his previous visits to the Snowpark Tour at Oberstdorf, won in front of Jakob Messner from Innsbruck, 15-year-old Nico Von Lerchenfeld from Rettenberg (GER) and Thomas Stiehler from Schwaebisch-Gmuend (GER). These four riders will represent the Oberstdorf snow-park at the finals of the Snowpark Tour at Zell am See-Kaprun (AUT) next weekend. 18-year-old Lena Waizengger from Kaufbeuren (GER) won the female snowboarders' contest, 14-year-old Felix Georgii from Rettenberg (GER) was victorious at the juniors' with brothers Linus and Moritz Birkendahl from Berg (GER) coming in second and third.

At the new school skiers, also an old acquaintance won: 18-year-old Florian Geyer from Pfronten (GER) had already taken second placeat the February stage of the Snowpark Tour 08 at Zugspitze, Germany. At Oberstdorf, he managed to secure victory with rail moves like 450 on/270 off. Together with Geyer, also the second and the third of the Fellhorn stage, Michael Stannat and Flori Dumps from Oberstdorf (GER), were invited to the finals. 14-year-old Lukas Joas from Oberstdorf (GER) took victory at the juniors' with another pair of brothers, Tobias and Lucas Mangold from Garmisch-Partenkirchen (GER), taking second and third.

Saturday evening saw an additional night session at the Crystal Ground at Kanzelwand with the riders having fun judging each other at an easy jam session. All winners of the weekend were rewarded with precious non-cash prizes by Quiksilver, Roxy and Rossignol. The last qualifier of the Snowpark Tour 2008 will take place this Friday (March 14) directly before the Finale Grande at the DC Central Park, Kitzsteinhorn.
