ADT LOG: Poop Storm Weekend

ADTblogCOVER.jpg

So last weekend was a good one. The season is intensifying like a bag of microwaveable popcorn popping. Issue 10.1 has been sent to printer and we're waiting for proofs. It seems like the workload doubled overnight these past few days, so once the weekend does come rippin' around the corner it's that much sweeter.

Unluckily Friday moved in with a poop storm. Late night Mexican restaurant in France was the wrong card. I felt drugged from the lack of sleep and lack of food but I made it out the door once the evening came around. I had eaten a total of 3 colas and shit was starting to settle. I hung out and skated with the boss's kids before heading out.

The future

One of the biggest cheeses from the longboard scene was in town for a RVCA party/ screening. Man's name is Alex Knost. He's a dude that seems to be putting a good artsy swerve on the surf scene. (Disclaimer: I don't know shit about surfing, in fact I actually strapped my leash onto my wrist at my first surf session down here.) So yea, we rolled up to shmooze 'n booze with the surf turds. Homies were kinda stale and party was not really jumpin' (then again it was only like 8:30), but Rasmus shook it up and dove through the balloons scattered across the whole gallery.

Anyway, homeboy Knost is cool. He surfed his ass over from the US to drop a Soho-like art show on us. He displayed photos, paintings and showed us some experimental wave-mashing longboards. A screening of his video projects ensued. Shit was weird. I liked it a lot. Seems like snowboarding and surfing movies alike are tweaking their styles to become more like interpretations and weird visions of the creator. I'm down. I get tired of HD videos that seem to be a mirror of real life. Show me your own perspective on life, thanks.

I came out of the movie impressed and even more impressed that I hadn't crapped my pants all day. We were greeted by Knost playing on his guitar in the gallery's other room. Well, he wasns't even really fucking playing, you could hear a whole band playing (including drums, so it might have been his real band playing) while he just swayed and pretended to play his unplugged electric guitar. Shit was fucked, but like he said in his VBS documentary, "Everything should be fucked!". Another thing he was saying about surfing which I feel applies to snowboarding is that it's more of an art form than a sport, too much wack competing takes away from us being experimental and free with our ride.

The rest of the weekend continued with me rolling around in waves that were way out of my league with a board that is way ahead of my game. At least people on the beach probably had a good laugh watching me go through the blender repeatedly.

To top off a rad weekend me and Thomaz went to local dope spot, Tarnos skate park, and rode some cement waves.
