Protest Blog: Flumserberg

My god, I'm tired now. Five days in a row with amazing powder runs, I can definitely feel it in my legs. In total we spent 29 hours on the mountain in the last 5 days. On the last run today my legs were burning so much that I almost didn't make it all the way down.

We went back to Flumserberg again. According to slf.ch it had snowed about 15 cm, so we were very surprised to discover that all our tracks from yesterday were covered. It hadn't really snowed that much but the wind helped us, bringing fresh snow into the tracks. Flumserberg has a really cool run which is marked on the piste map but isn't groomed. It goes from 2,222 meters down to 665 meters and is 7 km long. The run is full of cool pillow lines and cliffs to drop. It's one huge playground with an amazing view of lake Valensee in the background. It takes about an hour to go from the bottom to the top and then down again. At one point you have to hike for 10 minutes, but its definitely worth it. We did this run 3 times today so that's 21 km of powder!

Tomorrow we will take a day off to heal our sore bodies. We are still staying at Fadri Jecklin's house and he has given us a tip about a great spa close to here, so we might go there. Miikka is missing his daily sauna bath. He actually has one in his apartment back home. They are crazy, the Finnish people, two room apartments with a sauna!
