Protest Blog: Argentera

We stared at the weather maps all evening and morning and finally headed south. It seemed to be the place that’s going to get snow next, hopefully. And Jonas called Lukas Goller, who said good things about small remote resorts in southern Italy.

We arrived at Argentera, which is located at the end of some valley close to the French border. The word remote, at the very least, describes this place well. Tons of tree runs and nice terrain with not too many tracks, even if we arrived days after the last snowfall. At the hotel we seemed to be the only guests. Our Italian and their English didn’t meet halfway so we tried to communicate by sign language with some words thrown into the mix. The resort has two lifts and no trail map. It’s interesting to find and get lost in these places where the tourist crowds don’t find their way, but you might have to settle for less communication and when we asked for internet they laughed a little and said something that sounded like "there is no internet in the whole county"… so the the blog updates might take a while. I am writing this and hoping we will find it somewhere. Not that we are addicted or anything, but the internet is VITAL. What the hell did people do before it….heheh.

Yesterday we went up to scope around the resort and already found some amazing runs and even some old kickers that fellow Italian snowboarders had hit earlier. We hit them a couple of times as well. Sun was shining and we saw the potential. With some fresh snow this place will be amazing and basically just for us! We will stay and wait for the snow. And today it looks like it’s coming. It’s so foggy that you can barely see out the window. We might have to dig out some ancient entertainment, like a book… or maybe we'll make a day trip out of it to find the cyber world.
