Last weekend the fourth ARC (austrian rookie challenge) took place in Damüls. The ARC is one of the biggest offspring event in the snowboard scene. Riders from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Poland, Italy and even from New Zealand were invited to join a smooth riding session a whole weekend long.
On Saturday the backcountry session took place. Therefore the riders were split into teams and every team got a photographer and a cameraman. Because of the fresh powder, the session, which was planned to last the whole day, turned out to a powder- and jibday.
After a short chill out it was time for the nightsession. The extra assembled setup at the Uga valley station, which contained a 8 m woodrail and a picnic table combo, has been jibbed and slided to the max!
Afterwards there was a big party at the „Kuhstall". DJ mml and DJ Fatlace were responsible for the beats.
On Sunday, after a long and exhausting party night, it was time for the parksession at Jack's hut. Even the weather god was kind and there was cracking good weather up on the mountains. The parkdesign team built a special setup for this years ARC.
For the kicker and rail hungry rookies, a mega roller, a quaterpipe with upbox and backrail, a barrel and a doubleset with downrail inclusive straightbox has been shaped. Soon a big session was spread over the whole park.
In the afternoon, the winner was voted through the numerously attending magzines. Because of his unmistakable style, Marc Swoboda managed to win best style, best railtrick and the overall valuation. The best trick showed Werni Stock from Zillertal, and Florian Galler was voted to best youngblood.
