This year will be three the teams coming from three different snow parks that will challenge each other with the best structures and making the most spectacular tricks in skiing and snowboarding. Participation is open to all Italian snow parks: the best projects, among the ones that have been sent, will be selected for the event.
After the success of the first edition of the ski and snowboard freestyle contest last February, extraordinary changes are expected for 2008 edition. On Cervinia snow, the confirmed location for the event, snowboarders and skiers will compete for the "palio" on the 29th February, on structures made by shapers and snowmobile drivers of their team.
The Red Bull Snow Palio format, that won the prestigious prize Snowbox Award 2007 in the category best national contest, involves both snowboard and sky athletes, and the guys engaged in the making of the structures.
There are many changes in comparison with the first edition. First of all, participating teams won't be two, but three, representing the three snow parks that will compete for the "palio". Every team will be of eight people: five snowboarders, one freestyle skier, one shaper and one snowmobile driver. The last two of these, will already be in Cervinia one week before the event, with the goal to set free their creativity, to create the necessary structures to give athletes the chance to express their best talent.
In each team, two of the snowboarders in competition will be high level pro riders that will put to use their technical ability to their team. Among the "godfathers", stand out the extraordinary names of Filippo Kratter and Manuel Pietropoli.
But the main change is another one. For the first time, the Red Bull Snow Palio is open to every snow park that have proposed their candidature. Apart from the hosting snow park, the Indian Park of Cervinia, the other two participating teams will be chosen on the basis of the candidatures sent to the web site www.redbullsnowpalio.it
The contest will be divided into two sessions during the day of 29th February: one day session and one during the evening. Teams will compete both during the day, at the Indian Park, and during the evening session in the centre of the town, at the slopes' arrival.
But it doesn't end here. The day after the event, the structures will be available of every lovers of snowboard and ski that want to test themselves in freestyle. The 1st of March is foreseen an "Open Contest" where people will join the fray with their idols, professional of these discipline. The participation is open to everyone.
