Sun, snow, snowmobiles and snowboarding were on the menu at the second X-Elements at Geilo, Norway, this weekend. Local Gjermund Braaten won the snowboard big air in front of about 3,000 enthusastic spectators.
With a respectable startlist, containing several X-Games, Olympics and Dew Tour-competitors there was never any doubt that the level of riding would be rather challenging at X-Elements, and 1080`s and 1260` were raining already during practice.
After the qualification round there were five riders in the finals – Ståle Sandbech, Eskil Korneliussen, Sondre Tiller, Gjermund Braaten and Per Iver Grimsrud.
After two rounds, where both Tiller and Korneliussen fell, local hero Gjermund Braaten won with a clean backside double cork 1080, and cashed in US$5,000. Per Iver Grimsrud placed second and Ståle Sandbech placed third with a backside 1080.
