Here at Method, we love the creative shapes that the master craftsmen offer us every winter, and Bataleon has drawn on 16 years of board shaping evolution and experience for this new model. When we first saw the Bataleon Surfer we knew we were in for a real treat.
"Equally at home in powder, or on the piste, and featuring Bataleon’s most pronounced 3BT™ to date, the Bataleon Surfer guarantees effortless float and powerful carves. Highlighting 16 years of shaping development, the Surfer is the most advanced 3D shape Bataleon has ever produced. Bataleon ambassador DBK set out to capture the inexplicable moment between chaos and peace in his self-directed Surfer clip."
There are few things that feel better than a laid-out pow slash. Argue as much as you want, we'll always disagree. But even though it feels so good, a snowboarder's vocabulary will quickly descend into the pre-historic when trying to describe the feeling.
The powder turn is so hard to describe but if you know, you know. DBK hits the nail on the head. "It's just a slight notion. A glimpse of a feeling. Witnessed over and over again, but still impossible to grasp. That inexplicable moment between chaos and peace."
So, let's get into the details of this beautiful board. With 3BT in the nose deeper than your favourite Papa John's, more fluid than your fish tank and curvier than your ex-girlfriend, the Bataleon Surfer's nose is tailor-made for blasting through a pile of the deep white stuff harder than Kate Moss on an average Wednesday 10 years ago. This third generation triple base technology is Bataleon's most pronounced shaped ever created and with the new sidekick technology for even more float, this board will have you suspended between states of being, somewhere deep within the spectrum of H20.
The swallowtail is short and punchy and will initiate your turns faster than you can feel them coming. It will throw up a spray better than a jet ski tow in on the big wave Jaws. The Surfer has a softer flex than most dedicated powder boards, but with a moderate camber profile for locking in carves, this board will be just as fun bashing through slush side hits towards the end of winter as it will be navigating the depths of the frozen oceans.
Extremely limited and with a price tag that proves the craftsmanship. If you want a board that will have you flying when the flakes are stacked deep, don't sleep on this one, because they won't be on the shelves for long.
