SPLWG 2018 - Snowpark LAAX Winter Games

A few weeks back, Snowpark Laax hosted the first annual Snowpark Laax Winter Games. A simple idea turned into one of the funniest contests we’ve ever hosted. A couple of wooden pallets, a sketchy wedge ramp, a downrail, a bunch of stoked riders and some cheap beers made the perfect setting for an unforgettable day. The weather conditions were tough with low visibility, but that didn’t stop the riders from sending it in the woods at the bottom of P60.

The contest format consisted of three separate challenges with both a male and female winner for each challenge. The high jump challenge tested the riders’ abilities to jump on a number of pallets without the tower collapsing. The hands down challenge let the riders throw their best jibtricks on a downrail while keeping their hands down. And last but not least, for the long jump challenge, a sketchy wedge ramp sent the riders in the air to travel a couple of meters and then land on a pallet.

We saw people popping high, others travelling long distances through the air at high speeds and of course a good amount of gnarly bails. The riders had a good time, the crowd was pleased and the shapecrew is looking forward to next year’s edition of the SPLWG!
