No Budget Online Premiere + Extra Butter

To be honest, we had never heard of this crew until a few months ago when they got our attention with their teaser. With a name like "No Budget" their story sounded common at this point of economical distress. Their cinematography and editing were legit, so we decided to give these kids a chance and patner up. I'm pretty sure this crew will add up to something big eventually and manage to get a proper budget. But enough yakking from us, here are some words from their editor Lowe Andersson that perfectly encapsulate the No Budget ethos: "This is a project that wasn't supposed to be a project, with a budget that didn't exist, that turned out to be a movie, which wasn't supposed to be a movie. We are a crew who chased shots for fun and suddenly there was a movie." Read on for the full skinny!

What did you guys do to make money since there was no budget to make the movie? Anyone have a funny or weird job?
Lowe: We all have different kind of jobs. I work in a brewery in Norway, stacking a lot of beers. Emil works with decontamination in factories, which sounds like a dirty job. Thomas is kind of a janitor during summertime. Otherwise than that, we have pretty normal jobs.

Where are you guys based?
That's the BIG problem in our crew. We all live in different places. Me and Elias in Umeå, Jimmy, Alexandra, Michael and Filip in Piteå, Malin and Emil in Hemavan, Thomas lives in Norway, Mo sjöen. So we have a long trip to one another no matter what. All the weapons loaded up for a late night assault. Photo by Patrik LöfgrensbilderWhat crews inspire you to do what you do?
The people who inspire us the most are Videograss, and the old Robotfood crew.

The crew is not that big, did you guys ride most of the spots all together?
Most of the time we weren't more than 2 or 3 people at every spot, but we all got together twice last season and each trip lasted for a few days.
Anton let's you C how to get blunted. Photo by Patrik LöfgrensbilderHow did you make those overlays with the letters that fly by and flash on screen, are those plug-ins or did you make them?
We had a person just standing there with a flag with letters, waving it in front of the camera now and then. Hehe, no it's all plug-ins.

What is the ideal number of people to pull a bungee?
Hehe, it is entirely up to how much speed you need. For Thomas' rail spot on the roof we needed 7 to 9 people so we could max the shit out of that bungee.
Presto, check out Jimmy Bostro on the 5-0! Photo by Anton Svanborg Was that wooden rail easier to ride once Iverson broke it?
I wouldn't say easier. But definitely more fun.

Did Elias' mom sew his pants after he busted that leak?
Haha, no, he liked the hole in his pants. It worked well as an air hole for his ass to breath in his tight pants.

What is the benefit of having a couple of girls in the crew?
Well, to be honest, I don't think of them as girls. They're just hobos that are a part of the crew.
Lowe, Emma and Thomas. Just a bunch of hobos...Photo by Dennis BjerkhögsAre there siblings in the movie or are they from village where everyone has the same name?
No siblings, Lindquist & Lundquist just have the same name.

I haven't seen a bomb drop in years! Did you plop off everything single one of those spots off the dam till you got it right?
It felt sort of old school doing a bomb drop. So much fun! Haha, nah, me and Jimmy tried to do a bomb drop at the same time, but we blew it and had really bad timing in the jump so we finally decided to do it one at a time.Lowe dropping a retro bomb! Photo by Dennis BjerkhögsNow let me get this straight. Lowe, you edit right? Who is the main filmer? Or is that everyone's job?
Yep, it's me cutting and editing everything and getting the stuff out there. But we share the filming equally in the crew, so everyone can have their tries.
You gotta be safe when filiming, keep your helmets on, kids. Photo by Patrik Löfgrensbilder
Do you guys ever get tired of filming at night?
Well, yeah, you get a bit tired and exhausted after filming in the evenings and late nights. But it doesn't matter because it's dark almost all the time up in north of Sweden during wintertime. And I personally like night shots the most, anyway.

What do you think needs to happen now for you guys to stand out from the rest of what seems like hundreds of video productions out there today? Pyrotechnics? Costumes?
Thank you! We don't really think about trying to stand out. Maybe we should, it's so easy to make films and edits nowadays, so maybe a costume would do it!  I guess we just really like to snowboard and document what we do when we go on our missions. Half of the fun is to be able to look back and feel like, "hell yeah"! And as I said, it wasn't on anyone's mind to produce a movie of the footage we got, so next time we'll try to have a more specific theme and shoot better.
