Kaunertal Grand Opening Party

As every year the ultimate Kick-Off Event of the snowboard scene will take place at Kaunertal and will go into its 22nd year with a giant opening-day party.

Besides the successful highlights, such as the BOS Testcenter offering free testing of the newest 07/08 material, music from internationally renowned live acts (Headliners: 3 Feet Smaller & Mono&Nikitaman) a "BIG PARK mini shred", video premieres and more are just some of the events to expect October 12 to 14.

THE CONTEST

The KTO BIG PARK mini shred will be a highlight for all. Everyone is entitled to participate, in session format, and riders will decide who takes home the award at the end of the day for the Ripper of the Day, the Best Girl, the Best Trick and Best Rookie. Planned for this weekend (if snow conditions are good) is the opening of Kauntertal's Superpipe and a few events to go along with it. Who will find the Line of the Day? Riders decide - riders shred. A total of 3.000 Euros will be paid out as prize money - for that money, it's worth registering and participating.

SIDE EVENTS

Kaunertal's opening is also the location for big-name snowboard film premieres from two top snowboard video crews. Absinthe Films, well-known for their progressive style in snowboard movies releases its latest masterpiece, OPTIMISTIC?. In addition, Pirate Movie Productions will celebrate the premiere of Walk The Plank featuring national and international riders such as Gigi Rüf, Dimitry Fesenko, Aleksi Vanninen and many more.

Professional photographers will also be in the park on Sunday, and photos will be taken of those who know how to ride... and of those who don't. Gone are the times of the wobbly mobile phone pictures - these photos can be downloaded for free on the web.

More specials include the KTO-poker-tournament and game stations with all kinds of consoles.

The BACKONSNOW Tour 2007 makes its first stop at the Kaunertaler, where more than 30 companies will introduce 3,000 new products to test for free. Development, technique, finesse, what's in, what's new -- all is revealed at the BACKONSNOW.

Additional to the active testing is an extensive supporting programme daily from 9.00 to 16.00 at the BACKONSNOW. Participants receive specialist advice regarding boards, shoes, fastenings, clothing and accessories.

Chill areas are provided for relaxation with DJ beats and snowboard movies. Experts from Risk'n'Fun enlighten us on the basics when hiking and freeriding. Plus, Streetboard shows and Indoboards can be won. For the most hard-working BACKONSNOW tester there are goodie-bags filled with great things.

BANDS

Dancehall-reggae from energetic Mono & Nikitaman makes a return as the headliner at the party tent Friday night. This band has gained a large fan club from playing over 350 performances in the last year at festivals such as Summerjam, Chiemsee Reggae Summer and Splash. While performing many gigs the group produced an album and managed to keep their fans support. These two definitely belong at the top of the German-speaking reggae scene and will be live in Kaunertal with their band Royal Flash.

Well known for their two hit singles "Let It Out" and "Rich Bitch" from the A1 Commercials, Kaunertal welcomes 3 Feet Smaller as the rock headliner Saturday in the party tent. 3 Feet Smaller belong to the punk rock elite following five years of touring and studio performance. Through the unbelievable live presence of the last years and the latest CD „3rd Strike" (their best album yet) the „Bowling Punks" (as they call themselves) have worked on many levels of popularity in Austria and abroad.

Founded in 1997, the IBK TRIBE is Innsbruck duo Jamin und Sensay. Their songs underline a unique dynamic and connection between delivering a message with a party atmosphere. Feeling, rhythm and truthfullness show through IBK TRIBE beats and texts between dancehall, rap and soul. The duo is supported live by Selecta Truman, an experienced DJ of the Nürnberger Sound systems Skunk Fu.

Excuse Me Moses is another band on the list with unrefined power, and recently was able to support Bon Jovi and Nickelback in Innsbruck as the opening act.
