Rider: Scott Stevens
Photographer: Greg Miller
Trick: Blunt to fakie
Location: Seattle, Washington
"I was hiding out behind this wallride, shooting up at the rail setup and using part of the wall in the foreground. I was using a tilt-shift lens, which requires manual focusing, so I was concentrating pretty hard on the rails and making sure stuff was staying in focus. At the same time, these dudes were hitting the wall at the bottom of the setup, right above my head, and occasionally coming over the top, missing me by a few inches and crashing down on the bricks beside me. I remember snapping a photo of Scott on one of the rails, and since he rode away clean, I knew he'd be hitting the wallride. I heard him coming up the other side, so I just dropped back, aimed up, cranked the focus ring the best I could and fired. You should have seen the grin on my face when, somehow, that shot came out in focus. Completely unplanned but it ended up being my favorite from the day."
