Ketchup: Marc Swoboda

There is no denying that Marc Swoboda is making more noise than a cat in heat right now. He's a motivated kid with a warm smile and chucks some serious carcass on his snowboard. He's a busy dude these days but we trapped him a corner, tied him up and asked him these friendly questions. Get a hot dog cause we got mad ketchup for you with ol' Swobodubs.

How was shooting the Nitro project, is it going be amazing?
Filming for the Nitro movie was amazing, just because it was the first time I had a filmer with me pretty much everywhere I went, so it was perfect – really stoked on Nitro making that happen! I think it's gonna be a sweet first little team movie, finally it feels like Nitro international is putting together a solid program with a talented & motivated team!

Nitro Team Movie: Turn On, Tune Out, Drop In Teaser:

What is the story about Bamboo Productions?
Haha, do you really wanna know from the beginning? It all started back in my local area (lower Austria). When I first started riding in some comps there I met the only few dudes who ripped it up in that part of Austria and we started a snowboard crew called Homoality – yep, that's right! Haha, it was kind of Wildcats-type thing with insane bar shenanigans, naked dancing party footy… When things started getting a bit more serious in the industry for us we just renamed the crew Bamboo Motion Pictures and for the last 2 years or so we've been trying to create some sort of a scene back home by producing a movie and having a premiere every year! I'm stoked because we've managed to step it up every season, this year's movie gonna be sweet, there are some of the BWA girls in there as well. Thanks Hiasl & Heimi for putting it all together!

How was filming with the Blickinsfreie's Bulgaria project? What's your overall impression of the place for visiting and snowboarding?
I already had a connection to Bulgaria via Niko (Plakov, he was shaping on Dachstein and organized a rail jam last year). Niko is one of the most motivated and true snowboarders out there so I knew kind of what to expect. The crew was perfect, it was a good mixture of everything and we got super lucky with the weather. There was some snow in Sofia at the start of the trip, so we hit some street stuff, later on we went to some resorts – they have some big peaks there – it was sick!

Here's some footy of Marc in Bulgaria with Nitro:

Do you miss Isenseven?
I dunno… To be honest i never really filmed with them! I was pretty unlucky last year, so I didn't really get to join them on trips, I just filmed a bit at Superpark and the rest of the footage from my part was from other filmers… but I guess, yeah. There are some funny peeps in their crew fo shizzle!

Does Nike or Red Bull have you running around more?

Are you tying to get me in trouble!? Haha, both of them really. Both really help me out a lot, Red Bull is amazing with all the support outside of the snowboarding "box", like a year-round diagnostic and training center, medical help like doctors and therapists, insurance… They even had their first snowboard Performance Camp go down in NZ this summer– check the footy! On the other hand, Nike is doing a lot for snowboarding itself, they send us on a lot of trips and special shoots, it's amazing! I can't even begin to tell you how HAPPY and I guess lucky I am… THANKS to everyone for the support!

Tell us about your summer in New Zealand.

At first It was kind of hard to find motivation, after one month of summer shredding, all sunny and warm back to the cold and dark winter… But already on the flight over with my homie Wojtek we had sooo much fun – he just kept ordering more and more wine on the plane. I think he had something like 9 bottles, and then at our first big layover in Bangkok he pulls out 2 bottles of special Polish liquor (some lemon vodka and wine thing, don't even know exactly what it was) because we couldn't get through customs with it. So guess what happened... Yep, we had to drink both bottles at the airport in less than an hour. That shit was fucked up, but we had so much fun… But yea, the Red Bull Performance Camp was so awesome as well, the organization was perfect and we got pretty lucky with the weather again. The rail line and the bagjump over at Snowpark were great fun!

What's something Wojtek says in his funny Polish accent?
Okay, so whatever I say, he always says: "me neither"… love that!

Does the year-round shred burn you out?
For sure it gets to be too much sometimes but come on, what better "job" can you think of?! I am super happy about all the people I get to meet and all the things I am allowed to see!

Hopefully as soon as possible, I think they had the best rail line this summer… so fun! They should be open in October iI hope… can't wait!

Describe a stunt you saw that impressed you the most this year?
Toots overshooting the whole Air & Style set-up impressed me in a bad way… That was seriously insane – so stoked to see him shredding and killing it again!

Describe a move you pulled this season that impressed you the least (on- or off-snow)?
Hearing myself sing! Hahaha.

If you couldn't snowboard anymore and had to get another job what would you do?

Maybe I'd work at Red Bull or something like that! No, I guess I would just try to play guitar a lot.

Favorite Motown song?

This one: Mary Wells – My Guy
Favorite song to play on the guitar?
Just some good ol' blues songs…

If you had to tie someone up and play a song over and over to drive them mad, which song would you play?

I would just play on my guitar, people go crazy after the first minute of my awful fingerpicking… hahaha!Photobucket Marc armed with his guitar and ready to make ears bleed.

If I say "wiener", what comes to mind?
Seppi and his company, LOVE… Haha, he's a typical "wiener"!
