Despite this week’s cancellation of the Air & Style Moscow, another Swatch TTR event will bring snowboarding at its best to Russia: the 4Star BGV Fest from February 5th to 7th 2010 in the Metallurt-Magnitogorsk Ski Resort (Bannoe Lake). This legendary contest is bringing the 2009/10 BGV Tour to a close.
BGV Veterans and Newcomers Fighting For Money, Fame and 500 Swatch TTR Points If the event’s previous success is a sign to what lies ahead next week, fans in Russia can look forward to a huge set up consisting of two jib sections and a big air and a showdown of talent from a strong international riders field, as well as, a winter party that counts among the biggest in the country. Invited and wild card riders from all over Europe and Russia will compete for a total prize purse of 600.000 Rubles ($20 000) and 500 Swatch TTR ranking points over three days. The Russian Open Championship on 5th February 2010 will decide which four wild card riders will get a ticket to ride at the BGV Fest.
Back this year, are some of the “BGV veterans” such as Otto Veijola (FIN) and Sergey Lapushkin (RUS), last year’s winner Teo Konttinen (FIN) and “Ästhetiker” Crew member Chris “CK” Kröll (AUT), who currently sits in World No. 46. As the winner of 2Star BGV Fest Siberia, Chris Sörman (SWE), is also up on the BGV riders list. Sörman, who recently was awarded Sweden’s Rider of the Year at the Transition Winter Awards, came second at the 4Star BGV Fest in 2009 and is one of the top candidates for this year’s title. Many riders will make their first appearance at the BGV Fest this season including Petja Piiroinen (FIN), the younger brother of current Swatch TTR World Tour leader Peetu Piiroinen.
The BGV Fest – A Celebration Of The Russian Winter
Not only sports entertainment is awaiting the fans and visitors of the BGV Fest, but also great music entertainment with DJ Denis, DJ Larie1 (hip-hop, soul, reggae, disco, electro), electro dj’s (hip-hop, funk), and the music headliners EK Playaz with Ironic Rap performing on Friday and Noize MC and the German ska band Dr. Ring Ding on stage on Saturday. But that’s not all, visitors can also drive on a specially built Off-Road track or go riding themselves in a fun-jib contest open to everyone.
The Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour heads to Calgary, Canada straight after the BGV Fest for the 5Star Burton Canadian Open where some riders will get to collect their last TTR points before heading to the Vancouver Olympics in February.
