Filippo Crudeli wins O'Neill Garden of Roses

Blue skies, goggle tans, and good times had by all. The Swatch TTR THREE(3)STAR O'Neill Garden of Roses took place on Saturday amidst the beautiful Italian Alps as riders competed for a $10 000 prize purse and 550 TTR ranking points. Italian rider Filippo Crudeli took the number one spot of the day, followed by Patrick Huber from Austria in second, and Stefan Carlson from Sweden in third.

The entire day was filled with great music, tasty food and a chilled atmosphere that kept snowboarding fans entertained and the snowboarders happy. The set up consisted of a few rails and boxes at the top of the course, followed by two back-to-back kickers that were actually sculpted to the shape of the unique mountains in the background. The end of the slopestyle course gave riders an option of hitting a hip jump or a wall ride, allowing for some highly original and creative lines. The finals consisted of three runs with the top two runs counting towards a rider's final score. It was a straightforward format, but to keep things interesting, riders were not allowed to repeat the same trick twice, resulting in every competitor going bigger with each hit.

The laid back competition didn't stop the riders from throwing down some technical tricks including Filippo Crudeli who secured his place atop the podium with a huge switch BS 9 mute off the main kicker that included a decent sized gap between take off and landing. Patrick Huber's stylish cab 9 gave him the second spot and Stefan Carlson rounded out the Top 3 after stomping a sweet BS 9 melon.
