Never before has the field of participants been as densely occupied with the world's best international top athletes. In two of the five shown disciplines at freestyle.ch 2005, which will take place from the 23rd to the 25th of September on the Landiwiese in Zurich, two Swiss athletes rank among the absolute favorites. The snowboarder Nicolas Müller (23) and the FMX rider Mat Rebeaud (23) are currently both reaching top positions in international competitions. >From the 23rd to the 25th of September freestyle.ch will open its gates to the Landiwiese in Zurich. In the five disciplines snowboard, freeski, FMX, BMX and skateboard the worlds best freestyle athletes will fight for the title «freestyle.champ» and a total prize money of 120'000 US$. The spectacular battles in the air will be held on the Kingsize Halfpipe (BMX, skateboard), on the new FMX dirt jump, on which the bikers can do back flips for the first time, and on the 28 meters high Big Air Snowramp (snowboard, freeski). The atmosphere at freestyle.ch is electrifying: the freestyle-fans celebrate their heroes with boisterous applause. Two spectacular duels It would be a shame, if an alpine country like Switzerland didn't have an absolute top favorite in a snow discipline. Nicolas Muller is competing in the field of the snowboarders. The 23-year old rider from the canton Aargau is part of the Burton Global Team, a legendary team that only takes on the best riders. It looks like it could come to a real showdown at this year's freestyle.ch between Muller and the double «freestyle.champ» Marc-André Tarte (CAN). Tarte and Muller already fought a fierce duel in the finals on the Big Air at the event in 2003. The two professional snowboarders pushed each other to new highperformances - by a hairbreadth, Tarte took the freestyle.ch-title, while Muller came in second. «I have a couple of new tricks up my sleeve that I want to show at freestyle.ch 2005. And if I have a good day, anything is possible - I think, I could even beat Tarte», Nicolas says with confidence. Hardly any other rider makes snowboarding look smoother and more seductive than Nicolas. A fact that led to Nicolas' nickname «Style-Master Muller». With Mat Rebeaud, Switzerland has also got another supertalent in the louder FMX (freestyle motocross) discipline. Rebeuad has recently been boosting at international competitions. The rider from the western part of Switzerland came in third at this year's X-Fighters in Madrid. The competition in Spain is known as the most renowned FMX event in Europe. Mat only had to admit defeat to the two American superstars Nate Adams (1st) and Twitch Stenberg (2nd). At freestyle.ch Rebaud will meet Adams again - a thrilling duel is preprogrammed.
The propulsive force in the scene freestyle.ch doesn't only mark the kick-off into the forthcoming winter season from a athletic point of view. The event is also of prime importance to the entire freestyle-industry. As a powerful force in the scene, they ensure that the innovations in the field of freestyle-sports just keep on coming. This year over 60 exhibitors are presenting their latest attainments - never before were there more booths at a freestyle.ch. On Friday the 23rd and Saturday the 24th of September the official freestyle.ch-parties will take place at the X-TRA Club in Zurich. On Friday the DJs Ancient Astronauts and Kinski (Switchstance / D), Dr.
Brunner (CH), Pause (CH) and the Turntablebabes (CH) will make those behinds move with mixed beats. And on Saturday the DJs Ujo, Elle, Weasel und G.A.S. (all CH) are sure to make all the heads
bang, while the Band «Come n' go» from Biel will deliver finest punk'n'roll from the club-stage in the Podium.
