Gulli Gudmundsson is Down To Film

Gulli Gudmundsson is a more-than-familiar name at this point, but forever a hard one to spell. He is the third brother from another mother of the Helgasons. He has put out spectacular video parts, season after season. He is one of the main protagonists in the new film "DTF" by Johannes Brenning. We sat down and talked about some of the things we witnessed in the movie and such. If you haven't seen the movie yet, you have 5 seconds to press play right below or you're banned from this website! So where did the name of this movie come from. Do you remember when and why Johannes Brenning came up with it?
I'm not 100% sure on when and why, but I know it comes from DTF meaning "down to fuck", but it also works perfectly as "Down To Film"! It's really thought through, like all of JB's ideas!

How does it feel like to constantly have one of those little choppers buzzing around you in the streets?
It's actually a pretty good feeling! Once the chopper is up you have to go for it because the battery will run out fast. It makes you go all in early during a session.

Did the chopper ever crash?
It did last season. It went straight into a tree, but it survived.
Presstacular 5-0 on the DFD for DTF. Making up words and acronyms is fun! Photo by Lucas NilssonDid it ever crash into anybody?
Not yet, but it's been pretty close a few times!

The core crew is pretty small. What happens when someone gets hurt? Do you have stick more tricks?
Haha, no, not really, we just get bummed out that person is not riding with us during their recovery time.

Do you wish your life was in slow-mo sometimes? What part of your life would you like to put in 50 frames per second?
That would be so nice sometimes. I wish it would always turn into slow -motion while I was flying through the air. Especially when you know that you are about to crash hard! Then hopefully you could save yourself from injuries.
Gulli was just resting his eyes a bit on this ledge. Sliding through the transition from metal to concrete was exhausting! Photo by Lucas NilssonWhat part of life would you like to fast-forward?
Those times when you are injured, going up lifts, hiking rails/jumps and shoveling spots!

What did that dumpster you guys drop onto ever do to you guys to deserve such treatment?
We we're just jumping on it for no reason... It was laying there so perfectly, it was the dumpster's fault for just being there!

Do you think open parts are the future?

In some ways, yes! I think it's a sick idea. I would have sent in all my shots when I was younger if there was an open part in The Resistance, for example. It's also a great way for people to get noticed.
I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date! Gulli taking the express route and trying to beat the clock with a 5-0. Photo by Petter FoshaugWhat do you think about Eiki's weird wallride breakdance moves?
Fabulous!

Is Halldór an alien?
Yes.

What do you think is humanly possible on the circle rail? How many times around?

It all depends on how you build the set up, I guess. I think 2 times around is gonna be super hard! But some tricks and obstacles have always seemed impossible in your mind throughout the years but now people are doing them, so you never know.
You spin me, right round, baby, right round! Photo by Adam KlingetegDid you enjoy the kicker sessions in the powder? Where was that?
We did a trip to Austria, it was super fun until I hurt my knee and was out for 1 month, haha.

Where is that port you guys always film at?
In our hometown Akureyri, of course, haha!

Oh. Duh... Do you think those trees you replanted are still growing?
I sure hope so!

It's okay sometimes, but usually it's super annoying! Especially when the screaming kids show up.

Where were you riding with Dylan Thompson?
Helsinki. That was a good trip! He's such a sick rider!

What is the plan for this year?

Just keep on doing video parts and enjoy the whole season!
