Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails 2013 Gallery

'Tis the season for railjams! We got the Rock a Rail jam going down this Saturday with the LIVESTREAM on methodmag.com starting at 18:00(CET), then 2 weeks later on the 12th of October there's the longest running Euro railjam, the Frontline Rail Jam, which will also be streamed LIVE on our website as well. But the one jam that has been running for 10 years that truly kicks the season off is the Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails at Bear Mountain. Dasha Nosova headed out to snap shots and Knut Eliassen brought out a Nitro brigade to jump in the metal mayhem and see if they could come out on top. Enough of my yapping, press play and then see what Knut had to say:Nothing is a better indicator that winter is on its way than the annual Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails event. Every kid who is interested in the world of snowboarding is always excited to see what the new tricks are and which pro learned what over the summer. Basically, HDHR is the first real taste of rail snowboarding that you get every season. This year we brought down 5 Nitro riders to experience the wonders of HDHR: Brandon Hobush, Cole Linzemeyer, Oliver Dixon, Christian Hobush (Brandon's younger brother), and Isabella Borriello. Oliver, Cole and Brandon had all been to this event before and knew how awesome it was going to be. Christian and Isabella were both first-timers and as stoked as a fat kid in a candy store. "This is a dream come true, I have always wanted to ride at Hot Dawgz", said Christian when I asked him how stoked he was to be invited.
Bros & babes came out to watch the "public display of artistic suicide". Photo by Knut EliassenThis year marked the 10th anniversary of the infamous competition that Rio Tandbara (Bear Mountain Marketing Director) and Clayton Shoemaker (Director of Park Building) have been perfecting with progression of the set-up, event, music, and parties a decade now. I would actually say this was the best HDHR I have ever seen. The course was world-class and the riding was absolutely insane. Brandon Hobush did every 270 on both down bars and on the gap to down bar, plus a couple of one-footers and fastplants, while Christian sent it with full commitment on every feature and took some amazing slams (he never stopped smiling though). Oliver and Cole were hitting every feature - gapping, hardway-ing, transferring, or any other way they could hit a feature unconventionally. Isabella and the rest of the girls were sending it all day as well - which is very refreshing to see. Tommy Gesme, from Minnesota, ended up taking the win with a couple of solid switch backside 270´s (to regs and switch) on the gap to down tube, which was a well-deserved win. Every snowboarder at the event landed at least one jaw dropping trick, that is how high the level of snowboarding was that day.
