Rhythm Section Tour Update #1: Sweden

The Rhythm Section Tour made their first stop in Sweden, here is their story:

"10 days earlier, we had a dirty old white van, and that was it. But we had Lil’ Eric, too. With some help from his dad, Klas Beyer and strong coffee, today we had a home. Matte black paint applied with a roller. Six tiny bunks, a snowboard compartment in the back, 8 seats and an antique camping table squeezed into a 4.2m long, 1.7m wide cabin.

First stop: Klimpfjäll, Sweden. A small resort in the south of Lapland, where winter is an 8-month long season and cars are almost outnumbered by snowmobiles. Until the end of the 80s, the village was a mining community and the population was well above 500. When the mines closed, the population fell to around 100.
Those who remain get by on a tourist trade attracting slednecks, ice fishermen, and, occasionally, roving snowboarders.
Things could not have gone better during our first tour stop. Amid clear blues skies and sunshine, we found fresh powder in the trees and not-so-fresh wildlife in the hotel basement. Taxidermied reindeer, stoat, raven, wolverine and even a family of bears had all been gathering dust down there for years: it was time to return them to their natural habitat; for a day at least.

After a fun day’s shredding with dead animals, Christopher, a local Sami kid and avid snowboarder, invited us to his home. There we hit his fun little kicker and met his pet albino reindeer who was called Snow in Sami (which narrows it down to about 52 words). And then it was time to head south, via Stockholm and Copenhagen, to Zoetermeer, the next tour stop."
