Hey, it's Diego Ruthless reporting from the winter wonderland at Stubai Glacier. We've had a healthy weekend at the Premiere, besides the obligatory lack of oxygen and an overdose of staying-in-character. I'm usually less ruthless and more awkward, but that's beside the point.
With heavy snowfalls announced for the prior days and the glacier buried in snow, we had to make a tough call: either be the best employees we could be and submit ourselves to the idea of total coverage, or to start ripping up the last bits of pow while they lasted.
It was unanimously decided to postpone the reporting and not do anthing significant for this recap in the near future besides having a great time. But what else would you expect from a guy called Diego Ruthless? Nothing short of a product test at the party, of course. No rules on powder days.
After a long night of accomodating ourselves to the thin air, we met up with all the media people for brunch, because media people love brunch and it's the only thing we live off besides self-praise and bad pay. Way too soon after that I had to leave to work my second job as a chainsaw-juggler. Still, Stubai Opening was a firm reminder of everything that is good and right about snowboarding. I'm not talking about lift lines and smelly feet here, but about early winters, sketchy pow laps and good times drunk with the homies.
Thanks to Julia Baumgartner and Brunner for the pics.
