Bamboo is a wondrous plant. Did you know that bamboo actually belongs to the grass family? I'll bet you didn't. Pretty rad, eh? Here's another fun fact: bamboo is the fastest-growing plant in the world, growing up to an unbelievable 60 cm per day! There are many ways that this amazing plant makes our lives better.

Bamboo is used for nourishment by several species (including ours, don't tell me you've never eaten bamboo shoots at your local Thai spot), used as medicine for infections, as a construction material and scaffolding (mostly in Asia) and even turned into fabric. Bamboo can be utilized as a filter to remove the salt from saltwater. Bamboo is also used to manufacture musical instruments and even bicycles! How ridiculously versatile is that?
