In the spring of 2016, three young guys from the French-speaking part of Switzerland launched a crowdfunding campaign on an unprecedented scale, raising over one hundred thousand francs. Their aim: to create the largestindoor and outdoor action sports center in Europe in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.
Before the end of the year, the Alaïa Chalet will provide infrastructures for a whole series of action sports, including skateboarding, freeskiing, snowboarding, trampoline and biking. Today, they are unveiling a video of the entire facility, and are proud to announce the official start of the construction work in the spring, the last key step before the opening.
"All three of us are really happy that we’ve succeeded in creating a community of people whose spirit is inspired by the surf culture, and who are looking to share loads of fun times" explains Romain Magnin. Whilst awaiting the opening at the end of the year, Alaïa is offering a chance to win a Life Pass for the Chalet, valued at CHF 5,000.-, through a contest on www.alaia.ch, which will run for a month until April 19th. The Alaïa Chalet is already a record-breaking sports center as it will be the largest area for action sports in Europe, featuring the highest skatepark on the continent, and one of the only centers of its kind to offer indoor and outdoor areas.
Alongside this project, the three friends are also working on making a completely crazy dream come true: creating a gigantic wavepool in order to surf perfect ocean-like waves in Switzerland.
The name Alaïa comes from the wood boards which are at the origins of surfing, used by Polynesians to ride the Pacific waves. This kind of board has become extremely trendy to many enthusiasts who want to focus on the true values of the sport again.
