WSC Wins Norwegian TV Award

Norwegian broadcaster NRK received the Norwegian equivalent to the Emmy Awards (Gullruten) for best graphics in the World Snowboarding Championships slopestyle production. The graphics are based on the SLS judging system and integrates sports, TV and video game dynamics in a cutting-edge manner.

Snowboarding Livescoring System
(SLS) was developed by The Arctic Challenge and used for the first time at the TAC 2010 event. Head designer Petter Rydeng Ellingsaeter developed a great graphics concept for SLS together with the TAC and WSC organization.

"It was an inspiring task to present snowboarding in an exciting and viewer-friendly way by basing the graphics on SLS. Always respecting the core sport values, we also tried to make it easy to grasp for anyone – snowboarder or not," says Petter Rydeng Ellingsaeter.

NRK’s slopestyle TV production from WSC is also nominated to Gullruten’s main award show (live on TV May 12th) for best live TV event – competing with some of the major TV successes in Norway last year.

"We have worked closely with NRK in developing the TV and graphics concept. The award goes to NRK, but for us it is a recognition that working hard on developing sports formats and judging – in parallel with a TV concept – gives results. In the end, the TV product is the most important way to present sports achievements. A great TV product builds long term values for the sport
," says Henning Andersen, CEO of TAC and WSC.
