The 90's were totally awesome! The millennium was about to end and people were living like it was 1999. Dark colors slowly extinguished the neon glow of the 80's. Snowboarding left its hard boots behind and dipped its feet into the mainstream pool. Skateboarders wore huge pants while wheels were tiny. Kurt Cobain was still living and flannel was in full fury. Grunge hurt our parents' ears and gangsta rap scared them. Hip-hop was raw and autotune still didn't exist. The sounds of A Tribe Called Quest, Gangstarr, Company Flow, the Wu-Tang Clan and Snoop Dogg played on Yo! MTV Raps. Caps weren't fitted, they snapped back! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles lived in the sewer and Beavis & Butthead sat on the couch getting dumber. There was the Bulls vs Lakers, Biggie vs Tupac, Pirates vs Braves, and US vs Iraq in the first Gulf War. People wore bomber jackets without ever taking off and baseball jackets were worn without ever stepping up to the plate. There was 90210, the Spice Girls, fanny packs, turtle necks and Titanic was still in 2D!
Well, I guess not everything was awesome but this year Advita dropped their 2012 Spring line to celebrate some of the better parts of the 90's. With their usual top-quality production which we have come to know and expect since 2004, there is a grip of fresh gear in the collection. So maybe you were born too late to have truly have lived in the 90's, but you can still tighten up your look by sporting the Advita double A and yelling "Hip Hop Hooray"!
Here are two of our favorite new tees in the Spring 2012 line with the artist and songs that inspired the designs:
