Last night I had a dream. I was in an odd place that seemed impossible to exist. I was in Austria, but the locals were Swiss and I was able to pay with German currency (the deutschmark was still around).
In my dream I was slushing around a private mountain with the whole K2 team including the Lord of Darkness aka Danny Larsen, Colin Frei, Julia Baumgartner and American heads like Nick Dirks, Jordan Mendenhall, Jake Kuczyk (actually he's a Canuck) and Robbie Sell. We slid around the spring slush, smashing and bashing, yodeling the whole way down. Joodela-hee-hoo! Joodela-hee-hoo! Joodela-hee-joodela-hee-joodale-hee-hoo!
We ollied rivers of Almdudler and gapped weiss beer-filled crevasses inhabited by small whales that nipped at your ankles. We chomped on endless Austrian goodies like käsespatzl, knödels, and schnitzels without ever getting full…
This seems like a dream, but not just any dream, more like... an ultra-sweet dream. A turbo dream. An Austrian Turbo Dream. The thing is that this Austrian Turbo Dream really does exist. The good peeps at K2 hooked it up with a limited-edition Ifen/Kleinwalsertal Joodelajeehoo board upon my arrival to Kamp K2 to rip around with the pro team.
Check out how the sidewall turns into cap construction on the tip and tail, shit is tech!
Limited edition, son, WHAT?
Turbo Dreamy
Sorry, these special-edition decks are only for the kampers, but it's basically a 2010/2011 K2 Turbo Dream with a different base graphic and Austrian iconography like pretzels and polizei cars on the topsheet. The board rides like a dream with all-terrain rocker technology but enough stiffness to keep you clearing rivers of Almdudler easily. I felt clean and comfy on this deck, and got wacky in the mini shred park right off the bat on this plastic paradise. So stop staring, get yourself a K2 Turbo Dream next season and live the dream, but in turbo!
This is the graphic that will be available to the general public at fine purveyors of snowboards come September, get your Turbo Dream on, almdudlers!
Thanks Andy & the rest of the K2 crew for the sweet shred blade and wicked awesome good times, and everyone look out for some footy and other fun stuff from the Austrian Turbo Dream aka Kamp K2 weekend soon on methodmag.com
