Skullcandy Navigator Headphones

Skullcandy just took their awesome sound and fit it into a very chic, smaller package with the new Navigator headphones. They are the result of redesigning the Aviators everyone knows and loves without sacrificing style or that thumping Skullcandy bass! After watching that video I let my mind off its proverbial leash and started thinking about how sound can be used as a navigational tool. There are many examples of this in nature, from the bottom of the sea to high in the sky. I tried to find some videos to show examples of animals using their ears for eyes, but for a change, I went a little off-piste and found some weird stuff.. this is The Flight of the Skullcandy Navigator!

First, I'm sure you've heard that bats use sound to navigate (aka echolocation), using high frequency vibrations to catch flying food and allowing them to eat up to 600 mosquitos in one hour! Sing along now kids, Echo, Echo, Echolocation!
Marine mammals such as dolphins, sperm whales and baleen whales also use sound to navigate the seas, in this case using sonar, which is an acronym for "Sound Navigation And Ranging". I tried to find examples but after getting lost in videos of dolphins surfing for a couple of hours, I found this funny guy. Listen!
Birds not only use the sun and the Earth's magnetic field to navigate, they also use acoustic energy from the sea. These are re-radiated infrasounds, also called sound maps, and birds use to find their way home. I tried to find an example but instead I found cussing parrots and masters of imitation. Listen up... twat!

The Lyrebird is pretty wild with its ability to imitate noises such as cameras, car horns and opera. Listen!
Last but not certainly least, when I think of the word "navigator", it immediatly reminds me of this gem of an 80's movie: The Flight of the Navigator. Check out the full movie in HD below for some nostalgia. You're welcome!
Voila, I hope you enjoyed this arbitrary journey through the world of sounds. However, the point is that if you want to give your ears a better experience with a pair of headphones that are easy on the eyes, don't get lost in other brands' crappy sound and let yourself be navigated by a pair of Skullcandy Navigator headphones like Danny Kass and Kazu Kokubo!
