At CAPiTA Snowboards, we are proud to work with legendary pro snowboarder Kevin Jones in celebration of the 25th Year Black Snowboard of Death series, and share the origin story of the snowboard which has become an icon in the CAPiTA collection. The Black Snowboard of Death is the only series to cover the entire history of CAPiTA.
In the late 90s and early 2000s, Kevin Jones took snowboarding by storm. When Kevin strapped in it was heavy. From being named a multi-time Rider of the Year winner, claiming nine X Games medals while filming multiple iconic video parts each season, to gracing the covers and pages of snowboard magazines worldwide--Kevin Jones had undeniably achieved superstar status.
It was here where he was looking to shake things up, and make a change in the industry. The idea, to join forces with a group of friends to start CAPiTA Snowboards. The first board introduced would be, The Kevin Jones Black Snowboard of Death.
As snowboard history goes though, Kevin ultimately took a different route. The original samples of his CAPiTA pro model were placed in the archives, never shipped and the series name was shortened to simply, The Black Snowboard of Death.
Twenty-five years later, The Black Snowboard of Death lives on and has become the only series to live in the collection for the entire history of CAPiTA. After reconnecting with Kevin several years ago we are proud to celebrate his legacy with the Kevin Jones Black Snowboard of Death pro model--a snowboard twenty-five years in the making.
