Method's VIRUS List Part 2 - 2000s

Is it cruel to be making lists of snowboard movies for you to watch when most of us can’t actually go outside and snowboard? When I think about, it seems a bit sadistic. Like making eye contact with a dog while you slowly eat a whole pizza and don’t give it a single crumb. Not that I think of you, our audience, as dogs. It’s not like I can go snowboarding either, so I guess I’m torturing myself, as well as you. I don’t know where I’m going with this, but I do know that despite the fact that you can’t currently go and ride, you're still going to want to watch people doing it.

Here’s our VIRUS (Videos I Really (should) Unearth & See) list for the 2000s. This decade was a heavy one for the progression of snowboarding, and a lot of insane videos were made. Tricks weren't the only thing changing, filmmaking and fashion were also being shaken up. Videos had elaborate intros and skits, titles were hand drawn, stances were huge, and it was considered acceptable for white males to dress and act like dirty south rappers. There was the whole 'skinny jeans over the boots' thing too, and those guys also had huge stances, which we can now look back on and laugh at. Thank fuck we grew out of these phases. Dig in and enjoy.

Destroyer - Kingpin 2000.

The Resistance - Forum 2001. The birth of the first superstars of snowboarding.

Afterbang - Robot Food 2002. You should of course also watch all of their other movies.

Night of the Living Shred - Grenade 2003.

Vivid - Absinthe 2003.

Love/Hate - KidsKnow 2004. I had to dig around to find this one, and our outdated website won't let me embed whatever this obscure site is.

December - Airblaster 2004.

DC Mtn Lab - 2005. The setup you wished you had.

Patchwork Patterns - Think Thank 2006. With this follow up to Cue the Birds, Think Thank became a major influencer in snowboarding, and also contributed to America's first shortage of traffic cones.

Escramble - Volcom 2007.

Cold World - FODT 2007. The whole gangster thing is perhaps one of snowboarding’s oddest phenomenons, but it’s definitely a vibe. Magoon, Messier, and a lad called Miami Thunder who became a cult favorite, all cut with Cole Taylor’s unmistakable touch. Full part playlist below.

Group Effect - Skeleton Crew 2009.

Pony Tale - Action Horse Films 2009. A chronological look at a winter, and some early and very colourful footage of Halldor.

The Airblaster Movie - Airblaster 2009. Password: The Airblaster Movie

Bozwreck 3000 - 2009.

We hope you enjoyed these. If there were movies you thought were missing from this list, feel free to google them yourself. Alternatively, if there are movies here that you think don't deserve to be, then feel free to email us and complain, and we'll get right back to you. x
