Shadows Full Movie

Out of the shadows of the soccer stadiums of Italy crawl the DVP (Different Vision Productions) superheros. The public considers them a circus but they are one of us. This year, with Marco "Jhonny" Morandi behind the camera, they put together this movie, suitably titled "Shadows". We had a little chat with Marco (or Jhonny, we're so confused...) to find what the story was behind the movie. Read the interview then watch the movie or the other way around or even at the same time. Whichever way, enjoy!

How did you make the logo shadows in the intro? Did you really project them?
(Marco Morandi) Yes, for sure! I printed all the logos of the various sponsors and media partners on a transparent panel, add a couple of spots of light and that's it.

What's the general perception of snowboarding in Italy?
It is still considered a "circus". Sometimes the mainstream Italian TV does some shitty reports that do not reflect at all what snowboarding is. The fact is we really lack proper events, but I stay positive because all the guys that work in the snowboarding industry in Italy, in my opinion, are moving in the right direction. I'm hoping we'll get out of the Shadows and see the light soon! I tried to do my best to help the cause with this movie.

Get ready for a generic but important question: Where did you guys film?

We spent a couple of weeks in Finland and Poland. We filmed almost the whole rest of the movie in the north of Italy. Next winter hopefully we can go further.NFL? Hell yes! Serie A? Hell no! Marco aka Jhonny flossing some of that Oakland swagger.
A lot of you guys are rocking hockey jerseys when you board. Being Italian, wouldn't you guys represent with more soccer jerseys?
Haha, that is true, but to be fair we hate soccer.

What country is the most relaxed when it comes to filming in the streets?

We didn't go to too many places but in my opinion Helsinki is the perfect place, where the locals and the cops tend to leave you at peace to shred.

Who's motorcycle did you take apart to make that winch?

I really don't know. When we landed in Poland, Kuba arrived with his Renault Clio full of stuff for filming. He had lights, a bungee and a homemade winch. It was the first time we used a winch and it was crazy. Thanks, homie!

Is Nicolo the best smoker on the team?
Not really, Tato is the best at smoking, Nicolo's more the thirsty one!
Nicolo aka The Thirsty One
That was a serious hurdle from Nicolo to end his part. Is he being considered for the the Italian Olympic team?
Haha, yes, he actually received a call from "Vite Parallele". It's an MTV show about Italian girls that spend all the time in a gym training for the next Olympic Games.

Your Polish translation is really good. Did you pay someone to get that done?

I spent a lot of hours with my girlfriend trying to learn Polish (she studies languages at university) but it didn't really work.

Is Federico an official wizard?
Hell yeah. He is our Harry Potter.
Federico is all smiles after some stair massage action
How many movies is Nejc Ferjan in? He's kind of a movie slut, isn't he?
Seems like he has a part everywhere. It's true. We filmed his shots during the Poland trip.

That 360 crail grab thing that Tato did was sick. Do it again! (Wait, that's not a question...)
Wooooo!

Was the party over when Tato broke that rail?  Do you think the locals are looking for you?

I think so. That was the last day of our trip in Poland. After that shot we packed all our stuff in the van and headed straight for Milan.

Where can we see more Oivind?

I produced along with DVP a movie called "When the Going Gets Rough" with the Rough Snowboards team. Oivind has a sick part in it, he is the man. The full movie will be online in late November. Stay tuned on Methodmag.com!

So Federico does all the artwork? The wizard is also an artist!
Yessir! He is an artist first, and a snowboarder second. But he also makes art with his board. He helped us a lot with the visuals.

Filming will never die but if it did, would it go to heaven or hell? I mean, you guys do a lot of bad things with your cameras…
"When I die, fuck it I wanna go to hell,
'Cause I'm a piece of shit, it ain't hard to fuckin' tell
It don't make sense, goin' to heaven wit the goodie-goodies
Dressed in white, I like black Tims and black hoodies"
Biggie, man!

Is the abundance of free, online full videos a good or bad thing for the survival of the more traditional annual snowboard video?

Like KidsKnow said, "Internet killed the video part". It's true. The internet sucks, but you know we don't have any sort of budget to produce a DVD. Hopefully next season we will have the chance to do so.
