A 4- star Ticket To Ride- world tour event Battery Catfight will be held in Levi, Finland for the second time from 25th of March to 1st of April in 2012.
The event will see 4 star TTR-competitions in Burton Slope Style and Half Pipe as well as competitions in HP, SS and RailJam for rookies, juniors and novice. The total price purse of the event is over 10.000$.
Battery Catfight will also introduce a new competition format that is going to be a video contest for riders from all over the world. In the video contest competitors will be working as teams, unleashing their creativity in the fells of Lapland and showing their best tricks to camera.
-Shooting videos is a natural part of snowboarding, and with new elements we are keeping the event interesting for both competitors and spectators. Spectators will have a good look at girl snowboarders lifestyle and riding by watching the short films, says the event director Noora Vihervaara.
All female riders who are willing to take part this video contest should register at www.ttrcatfight.net . Teams of 4-6 riders, selected by event organizer, will be accompanied with a filmer and a mentor provided by an event organizer.
”The good thing about the format is that professional filmers provided by the event organizers will take care of the all filming and editing process so girls don´t have to worry about their skills as filmers and they can concentrate in their riding 100%. Mentors therefore are there to support and give tips for riding” Says Noora.
Burton snowboard pro Enni Rukajärvi, who has been really successful on TTR-tour during the last two seasons, is happy that Finland will be hosting a 4-star competition for the second time.
- Last year the level of riding was high. It’s great to see that the event has grown and developed year after year. I have always enjoyed the atmosphere of the event and it has also been a good platform for my career.
Battery Catfight 2011 slopestyle winner Urska Pribosic is thrilled to come back to Levi: "Battery Catfight was the most fun contest the past season so i don't wanna miss it!". Last years HP winner Elena Koenz is also already signed in and ready to defend her last year nr. 1 tittle.
Battery Catfight got its new name and venue last Spring, earlier the event was known as Tyttösessarit – Girl Sessions. Coming spring the event will be organized for the ninth time. In terms of number of participants, Battery Catfight is the biggest snowboarding event for females in Europe.
In addition to the TTR-competitions Battery Catfight will also organize coaching and competitions for women of all skills levels who are interested in freestyle snowboarding and new school skiing. Event will also include a lot of side events such as workshops, yoga, parties and other snowboard related fun!
