Danube Island will be hosting the first ever snowboard big air event in Vienna from the 22nd to 23 of November 2013 for the Fridge Festival Vienna. With snowboard enthusiasts from across the land descending on Austria’s capital to watch the 36 snowboarder battle it out for the 20.000 USD prize purse, it’s sure to be a 48 hours to remember. That’s not all though, the international superstars of snowsports are joined by some of Europe’s finest vinyl spinning producers, with the likes of Booka Shade, The Prodigy and Paul Kalkbrenner all being booked in to keep the crowd entertained into the small hours of the morning.


THE COMPETITION
With the mega 34m high structure being a beast to handle, Fridge Festival Vienna has invited a roster of 36 riders from all four corners of the globe to tackle the 100m long scaffold structure. With WST winners facing up against Austria’s finest snowsports talent, as well as a few wildcards to be dished out by the judges, it’s sure to be a competition full of surprises.

As 4 Star World Snowboard Tour (WST) event, the 36 riders in two qualification heats will have two runs to battle it out for the 3 spots available in the semi-finals as well as the next highest scored 2 riders in a ‘lucky loser’ system. For the finals, the riders will have 3 runs to impress the judges with their best run being taken for the coveted medal positions. Friday, 22nd will be the showdown for the snowboarders

THE RIDERS IN DETAIL
Local Austrian riders such as Marc Swoboda, Adrian Krainer and Mathias Weissenbacher will face up against some of the worlds most renowned snowboarding professionals.
With riders like Sven Thorgren, Markus Mathis and Tim-Kevin Ravnjak coming in hot from their recent exploits at the O’Neill Pleasure Jam at Dachstein, the Austrian riders are going to have to earn their spots on the top tackling these WST early leaders.
The snowboard competition will be hosted by “Mr.Love” Seppi Scholler.

PARTY VIBES: ALL PEAKS, NO TROUGHS
Not only will the event be bringing some of the most respected snowboarder from across the world to compete, but it’ll also be bringing a roster of international DJ talent to entertain the crowd into the early hours of the morning. With The Prodigy, Pendulum and Paul Kalkbrenner already confirmed to spin the vinyl, it’s sure to be treating both for the eyes and the ears, no matter whether you’re super-pro or a rookie to the snow scene.
