From March 6th to 10th, 2013 the longest running snowboard contest in Europe returns to Leysin with a jam-packed an all-new event program. On the competition side of things, the classic World Snowboard Tour competition will be
complimented by a new team format judged by the public, the DJ JIB JAM contest brings a whole new meaning to sport and music, and the Junior CHAMPS which offers a place at the CHAMPS for everyone.

For the 22nd edition of the NESCAFÉ CHAMPS, Leysin will without a doubt be the most excellent of freestyle happenings with an event program anchored by the 3 CHAMPS pillars, snowboarding, music and urban art.

On the contest side of things, the CHAMPS Slopestyle will be slightly modified but maintains it’s unique character by incorporating a Halfpipe component into the run. This formula has always been well appreciated by the athletes because the course is totally different from more traditional designs. Young freestyle stars like the current World Snowboard Tour leader and winner of the 2012 CHAMPS (Roope Tonteri), like to mix it up and show they can ride it all.

This year there's gonna be a unique setup on the mountain:

  • A compact, 450m long slopestyle including big airs, a section of superpipe and rails
  • A sponsor village with a view over the entire course
  • Public and VIP areas
  • Music and live announcing
  • Free public activities

The world’s snowboard elite will be present in Leysin for the World Snowboard Tour (formerly know as TTR) 5-star event, which offers $50’000 US in prize money to be divided amongst the finalists. In order to give a maximum number of riders a chance to qualify and hopefully make it to the finals, the CHAMPS has opened up the selection process for this winter. The Swiss Snowboard collaboration will continue with 3 events in Davos, Crans-Montana and Grindelwald sending their winners to Leysin. But that’s not all! The Billabong Flaunt It Tour in Canada will qualify its leading ladies, and the Ästhetiker Winter MÄSH in Saalbach Hinterglem (Austria) will send its winning team. There will also be a qualification day in Leysin for the last minute hopefuls.
In total, 18 men and 12 women will qualify to compete alongside the invited riders seeded directly into the semi-finals.

#3stylecup
The finalists of the World Snowboard Tour contest will become the stars of the "#3stylecup" show on Saturday the 9th in the resort. The Place to Be will be transformed for the beginning of the evening into a stage for an innovative show where the best teams of snowboarders will be judged on the images of their riding filmed during the day. The entire event will be mixed to music of the CHAMPS DJ Crew and accompanied by an art performance. For the first time, the real essence of the NESCAFÉ CHAMPS will be brought together in one place!
