Gustaf Lundström and Stefan Uskov are both shapers at Penken Park. Despite the workload, they still managed to film 'Reincarnated', a video part hustled during their lunch breaks and time off.
Words from Gustaf: "Me and Stefan work as park shapers in Penken Park in Mayrhofen. Being park shapers is both a blessing
and a curse. We get to be on the mountain every day being a part of what we love. But it also comes with a
lot of physical work that can drain your gas tank.
Seeing a powder day on the forecast is the most exciting thing for a snowboarder, for a shaper it means
hours of shoveling to get the features out. If you’re at the same time filming a video part, it means that you
want to get out there on your lunch break to get some clips before going back to the park to do a reshape.
In other words, a lot of tough days. If you got a clip it’s the best feeling in the world getting back home to
your house and watching it back. If you didn’t get a clip, you're exhausted and disappointed.
This was mine and Stefan's first snowboard part with zero park clips. All of it was filmed around the resort in
Mayrhofen. This meant a lot of spot checking, days when I did nothing but try all the lifts around the
mountains to learn where I see good possibilities and where I see zero possibilities. I took photos and
pictured in my head how it could look like riding or building something.
Working with Stefan, both in the park crew and filming, has been such a blessing. He is hard working,
dedicated and passionate about filming that it makes going on missions with him so much fun. The key to
our relationship has been that we spend so much time together. We live together in the shaper house so we
see each other's good times and bad times.
I want to say that there is hard work behind every movie or video part that you see. Even though I had tough
days where I was doubting myself, thinking that I’m not good enough to film a part, it made the process of it
so much more special and personal. Learning about myself and dealing with these negative thoughts that
come to mind was such a great experience and made me appreciate snowboarding even more."
