The 5th edition of Volcom’s Spot to Spot in Avoriaz was supercharged with action, featuring 5 snowboard sessions and live bands all packed into one epic weekend, with 300 riders chasing good times!
As always, the inclusive event made sure everyone was stoked, offering a variety of spots, a mix of pros, ams, kids, and an equal prize purse for both men and women. The weekend kicked off at La Chapelle snowpark with an amateur Warm-Up Session. The wind, grey skies, and cold temperatures didn’t slow anyone down, especially with free food and drinks keeping everyone fueled and hyped.
After the AM riders showed off their skills, the sky began to clear, setting the stage for the pros to introduce themselves in a Toilets Session. Yep, you read that right—a butter table was shaped on brand-new public bathrooms! With 1000€ in cash for tricks, things got wild, and the crowd was amped!
Next, the action moved to the Side Hits Session at the infamous “Star Wars” run—a slope in the woods loaded with both natural and man-made features. Over the course of two and a half hours, riders competed in an Instagram contest, rewarding the best clips and best hits. AMs had the chance to win tons of prizes, while the pros battled for a 3000€ prize purse. This session is always a highlight, with everyone getting creative and sending it all over the slope.
Afterward, Après-Snow went down at the base of the Side Hits slope, at Happy Hours Bar—one of the best après spots in town. So riders could flow straight into the party with the first band, MESS, setting the tone with their grungy riffs. Things quickly escalated with the free drinks and when Amsterdam’s FUCKFUCKFUCK took over the stage… and let’s just say the rest is a blur.
The next day, the hangover was washed away by blue skies and a gang run through the Arare snowpark. From there, it was time for the Petit Pin Session. Petit Pin is an abandoned restaurant transformed into a playground, featuring a quarter pipe to rail, a funbox, and a step-down over the second terrace gap. The AMs kicked off the session with a big jam, while the pros debated whether or not to hit the kicker. After Paul Veron dropped a massive backside 3 to set the speed, the session really took off. Too many highlights to mention, but 1000€ in cash was handed out for the best tricks, with Pat Fava stealing the show with a sweet backside 7.
The group then moved on to L'Express Session, where a straight-down rail was customized on the restaurant terrace with several creative options for riders to attack. With the crowd cheering on their favorite tricks and a 3000€ prize purse on the line, the riders definitely put on a show. In the end, Emma Lacarrere took top honors in Women’s Pro with a gap to 50-50, while Pat Fava clinched the Men’s Pro title with a super clean backside 3 transfer to 50-50.
Big shout-out to all the riders who joined the event, and we hope everyone had an unforgettable time! A quick recovery to Nicholas Bridgeman, who was injured on Day 1.
A huge thanks to the event partners—SunBum, Capita Snowboards, Union Bindings for the support, Ocean52 and Carlsberg for the drinks, and as always, Avoriaz SERMA, the Tourism Office, and the Volcom crew for their hard work in making this event a huge success!
