Once more the Kaunertal glacier will open its snowpark with a superlative kick-off for the coming winter season. The legendary Kaunertal Opening will take place for the 26th time and thousands of freeskiers and snowboarders will celebrate the beginning of the shred-season 2011/2012 with an awesome program on the mountain as well as in the valley.
Snowboard Action
The big names show how to do it... again numerous pros will flock to the Kaunertal, compete at the BIG PARK mini shred Pro Contest and show their most spectacular jumps. The pro contest will be one of the highlights of the weekend and will promise sensational kicker- and jib action. Besides receiving plenty of fame the best riders will have the chance to win US $ 7,000 in total. Also the mini shred Contest for amateurs will take place on Sunday in which all snowboarders and freeskiers, who seek more challenge and the thrill of a competition, will have the chance to show theirs skills.
Pro Contest Wildcards up for you!
USD 7.000,– are waiting for the winners of the KTO pro contest and YOU have the chance to grab one of the few wildcards for a starting spot. Usually only team managers can nominate the riders however we have reserved 2 starting spots each per freeski and snowboard contest for you.
To grab those Pro Contest Wildcards, post an action shot of you on the Snowpark Kaunertal Facebook wall (www.facebook.com/snowparkkaunertal) and motivate your friends to like your pic .. those 2 freeski and snowboard pictures with the most likes until Tuesday October 11th 1 pm are the lucky winners to battle the Pros.

For the first time the Snowpark Kaunertal will be open for everyone during the three days of Opening action as the amateur and pro contest park will be moved and the park will be open for all snowboarders and freeskiers, who will not compete in the contest.
To guarantee an awesome time in the park at the KTO the Snowpark Kauntertal will be perfectly shaped and shining with a versatile setup. There will be several funny jibs in the minishred, the medium-line will impress with smaller kickers and classic obstacles like a downrail, doublekinked-rail or a kinked-box. The kicker-line with two medium-rollers will be ready for the Kaunertal Opening too. The video-series „The Parkflicks“, which reported from the Snowpark Kaunertal the past season, will be continued the coming season. Already on Friday the total jib action will start with the Rail Session presented by downdays.eu & ONBOARD. The audience can lean back and chill at the glacier restaurant Weißsee while the riders show their best tricks on the rail. The rest of the weekend the rail will be available for everyone to jib.
Registration: Fr. 14.10. from 09.00 – 11.00 at the glacier car park.
More entertainment needed .. no problem! K2 Snowboards will be coming with their “K2 pop this” action and care for your amusement. The chance to show the crowd your “pop” is on Saturday and Sunday at 1 pm at the glacier parking lot – so you’d better start practising Ollies right now.
Testival
Boards, freeskis, bindings, boots, and eyewear – the product range is large and so will be the testival area this year. About 50 brands will be at the glacier for 3 days and present their latest products of the coming season 2011/2012. Everyone will get the chance to test those directly on the snow and check the shred-quality. The right equipment will be guaranteed on time for the start of the season.
Concerts, movies, parties
After all the action at the glacier the party in Feichten is a must! Friday and Saturday night the party tent will be shaken until dawn.
IBK Tribe and NOSLIW will start with their unrivalled Rap, Reggae and Dancehall tunes, followed by the Indie rockers from Bilderbuch who will heat up the party tent with songs from their new album. Saturday night Afrob, D-Flame and DJ Dynamite will bring their explosive show to the Kaunertal and will get the sparks flying under your dancing shoes. More party tunes will come from Chrisfader & Testa on Friday and Wax Wreckaz on Saturday until late at night.
On screen shred action presented by hot movie production will complete the evening program, as surely they don’t want to hold back their ingenious works any longer. Mog Productions with „THE REALITY“, Aestivation Entertainment with „LIFELONG“, Legs Of Steel with „NOTHING ELSE MATTERS“ und Pirate Movie Production with „BOTTOM LINE“ will bring stunning scenes with innovative techniques to Feichten... freeskiing and snowboarding at its finest!
