Zimtstern Presents The Iceripper Junior Open Davos

This weekend in Davos not only Bill Gates and all the other economic gurus met to cut their million, well rather trillion dollar deals but more than 100 snowboard rookies somehow made it to get through the police blocks on to the Bolgen to have a funtime at the halfpipe comp on Saturday and the Big Air on Sunday.

Tomorrows Shaun Whites and Gretchen Bleilers pushed themselves to their limits and some of them impressed the judges and the crowd with high airs and stylish tricks. In the halfpipe Rafael Imhof, just as already in Laax, won because of his cleanly stomped, high runs, including a sweet-ass 9 (U20). Zimtstern Snowboard Team Rider Linus Birkendahl got third in the U16 category, only dominated by Joel Staub and Jan Scherrer. David Hablützel (a name you better bear in mind for the future) was in a class of his own in the U14 category with tricks such as that sick cab fs 7. Gina Somaini (U20) and Zimtstern Team Rider Tamara Beutler (U14) won in the Girls categories.

If you think you know the Big Air you might remember the O’Neill Evolution at the beginning of January. In addition to the Evolution kicker the Juniors could choose from two smaller drops instead. Markus Mathis wasn’t in need of that though, he boned nice, high and wide over the Big Air including tricks such as the bs 7 melon. Jan Scherrer (U16) and David Hablützel (U14) stayed unbeaten and in the girls categories Caroline Höckel (U20) and Verena Rohrer (U14) ended up first.

Besides glory and fame an overall prize money of 3000.- CHF, valuable points for the Swiss Move Sympany Snow Series and rad give-aways from Zimtstern and TSG waited for the winners.
