It was a dramatic snowboard contest that went down at Spinlderuv Mlyn today. The best tricks on the unique super-slopestyle course were landed by Finnish rider Markku Koski. He won the top event of O2 Snowboard Tour - the biggest event in the Czech snowboarding calendar, the Quiksilver Snowjam. This means Koski adds yet another title to his year (after a 6th place finish in the half-pipe at the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver). Czech rider Honza Necas finished second after showing some nice riding with a good-looking double backflip in the Big Air. Swedish rider Stefan Karlsson scooped up third place.
Markku flicked smooth inverted spins and walked away a winner
Honza "Neci" Necas was the top-qualified Czech rider. After the finals Neci called the course at Spindleruv Mlyn "very challenging". "Half-pipe, rails and jumps – all in one. This is what you don’t see at most other contests all over the world and what makes the Quiksilver Snowjam unique", said Neci. "As a rider you have to focus on 4 to 6 jumps in the pipe. Then there is jibbing on the rail and it ends up on the Big Air jump. You have to be careful on the in-run and make sure you have enough speed to clear the jump safely", he added. Martin Cernik is the organizer of the event and was pleased with how everything went down, especially with Neci's second place finish. "Everything went really well and I'm glad we managed to gather so many great riders in Spindleruv Mlyn."
Young gun Neci blasted into second spot Old dog Cernik still has the moves
The Quiksilver Snowjam is a 3Star TTR event and also part of O2 Snowboard Tour, the biggest Czech snowboard contest tour, which unites all of snowboarding's disciplines.
